NATURAL CONNECTION
One hundred and fifty miles off the west coast of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula, lies a small volcanic island that is a haven for great white sharks every fall and winter. With an abundance of California sea lions and elephant seals on the coasts of Guadalupe island, it attracts hundreds of great whites annually. Guadalupe Island outperforms both South Africa and Australia with shark-seeing consistency and conditions. It is home to the best shark viewing, in beautiful, clear blue water with 100 – 150 foot visibility.
The white line on the sides of a great white is similar to a fingerprint on a human, and can positively identify each shark, and there have been nearly 400 sharks identified in the bay.
These images are full of vibrant detail, and printed large format, will make an unforgettable statement for those who visit your home or office.

Without a doubt, my most favorite and memorable photo that I have taken of all time. I`d like to give a shout out to my three amazing daughters on National Daughters Day! You inspire me, each in your own personal way, and I am so thankful to be your father! #nationaldaughtersday #prouddad #daughters #girlsareawesome
Eagle in flight, Alaska 2023. Going through some of the images from the Alaska Eagle tour in February. This is one of my favorite tours, and Im looking forward to going again in 2024. I think there may be a spot or two left, if you`re interested in shooting eagles, this is the best place to go! Link in bio. #eagles #baldeagle #wildlifephotography #raptors #aaronstours
Fall is near! Another photo I am working on for the upcoming @photocon_okc where I will be presenting a masterclass in November on wildlife photography. I have a few more VIP tickets to give away, if anyone is interested, comment below. It is going to be a great weekend with some great instructors in every genre of photography!
This photo was from a morning a couple years ago in the Tetons during rut. I miss those cool mornings, full of fall color, and the sounds of elk bugling throughout the park. Sad that I am going to miss it this year, but I will be in Colorado soon, shooting fall color, and I am sure that I will see some there. #elk #wildlifephotography #photoconOKC #photoconOKCX #fallcolors🍁🍂
This is an example of what just a little bit of perspective change can do for a wildlife photo. The first one was shot kneeling, trying to get more eye level with this bull moose about 25 yards away.
The second one was shot from standing, same bull moose a few minutes before. Standing, the background was the field of grass and sage. Kneeling, the background was the Teton mountains, and the grass directly in front of me gave a great foreground blur. Combining blues and yellows in wildlife images is always a plus for me.
Which one do you like, and what are your thoughts?
Putting together some images for an upcoming Master Class that I will be teaching at PhotoConX here in OKC, November 2nd - 4th on wildlife photography. For more info on the event, check out my links. This is going to be a great event for anyone interested in photography!
This is an image from Patagonia, in 2022. It was an unexpected event, as we were photographing pumas for a week there. One afternoon, we were scouting some other areas, and we had this amazing experience with these wild horses. The light was incredible, and we got into this ditch that put us shooting straight across the ground at these horses in front of the majestic Torres del Paine mountains. #patagonia #torresdelpaine #Chile #horses #horsesofinstagram #mountains #amazinglight #wildlife #wildlifephotography
Yesterday, the final day photographing the whales, was one of the best wildlife experiences that I have ever had. At one time, this baby whale came up and interacted with everyone in the water.
It approached me and I started to back away, but it just came closer. We were both swimming and I turned to my side to start photographing it, and it rolled on its side, I turned back and it started mimicking my actions. We swam for for about minute together, what seemed like an hour. Looking directly into the eye of such an animal, it was clear that we were both in wonder. Mardi had a similar experience, and I’m so glad that we both got to experience that together.
I had a similar experience a few years ago, when I swam with some orcas, and looking into the eye of one as she passed, it felt almost as communication, that everything was ok, there was nothing but wonderment and curiosity on both sides.
The day was a whirlwind, as we got off the boat with just enough time to shower, and get to the airport to return home via overnight flight to Fiji, LAX then OKC. It’s surreal processing everything back home now, after spending a week in the water, on the other side of the world, swimming with these whales everyday. I wish I had one more day on the boat, but home sure feels good. #humpbackswims #tonga #humpback #humpbackwhale #underwaterphotography #vavautonga #ocean #oceanlife #sealife
This may be my favorite pic of the trip. It’s one that I had envisioned before coming here. I wanted to capture an intimate moment of a mom and calf, and this young calf resting on the nose of mom nailed it for me. We had an incredible time with these two, and we’re able to spend a good amount of time with them before they moved on. “Malo” ocean! #humpbackswims #tonga #humpback #humpbackwhale #underwaterphotography #vavautonga #ocean #oceanlife #sealife
