Alaska Bears

NATURAL CONNECTION

The coastal brown bears of Lake Clark National Park, and KATMAI NATIONAL PARK, are one of Alaska’s true wonders.  This area is home to the largest population of brown bears on the planet.

Alaska’s Coastal Brown Bears are the largest land based predator on earth.  Large males regularly grow to over half a ton.  During the summer of 2021 I was fortunate enough to spend about a week with these amazing animals in these two areas and were able to photograph them in the meadows of sedge, clamming on the beaches and fishing during the salmon run in Brooks Falls.

These images are full of vibrant detail, and printed large format, will make an unmatched impression for those who visit your home or office.

I always encourage people to go back through old photos, to seek out little gems they might have missed, or things that can be processed differently with new technology. This is one of the former for me. Not sure how I missed this one the first time around! #eagles #baldeagle #raptor #birdofprey #birdphotography #wildlifephotography #alaska ...

Found this pic of this old bald eagle from last year’s tour. He was dirty, his feathers and feet were rough, his color fading. But, he was still a bald eagle.

I remember watching him, photographing him, and I remember thinking that this bird, the national bird of our country, reminded me of where we are as a country now in our history. We’re divided, we’re rough, colors are fading, but we’re still the USA 🇺🇸 and always will be. #usa #lightwillovercomedarkness #homeofthebrave #freedom #eagle #baldeagle #raptor #birdofprey #birdsofinstagram #wildlifephotography

A juvenile bald eagle passes us with the dramatic backdrop of the Kenai Mountain range in Alaska.

Found this Moose yesterday while looking for some eagles and owls in Alaska. We saw quite a few during the trip, but this was one the best backdrops. Have you ever seen a moose in the wild? #moose #wildlifephotography #alaska #alaskalife #alaskawildlife #sony200600 ...

So, these videos in this series, show the process that I go through about every 4 to 6 years, of having a new eye made. Because of the changes in the eye, the atrophy and the changing of the shape and size of the eye, it needs to be fitted for a new scleral shell, which is something like a big contact lens that covers the entire eye. I’ve only had a few people in the past 20 years be able to tell that it’’s not my real eye. It’s a fascinating process, and I thought that you might like to see Henry in action. #prosthetic #lafuenteprosthetics ...
